RHINEBECK, N.Y. -- Mildred Hanaburgh Butler Miller, 96, a lifelong Rhinebeck resident, passed away Thursday, Nov. 12.
Miller was a graduate of Rhinebeck High School and a lifelong member of the Rhinebeck United Methodist Church, where she was a choir member, Sunday-school teacher, trustee and member of the administrative and parsonage committees. She also was a past president of the United Methodist Women.
She was the daughter of Charles and Ethel (Bodley) Hanaburgh, and the widow of Albert Butler, Jr. (1977) and Henry W. Miller (1993).
She is survived by her daughter Marion (James) Russell of Longmeadow, Mass.; son Donald Butler of Red Hook; step-son Robert Miller; a brother Orson Hanaburgh; three grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and two close friends Lorraine Willkomm and the Hon. Dr. Carrie O'Hare.
Miller was predeceased by her daughter-in-law Mildred Butler, step-son Ronald W. Miller, four brothers Hanford, Charles, Raymond and James Hanaburgh; three sisters Minnie Newkirk , Christine Hanaburgh and Esther Spencer, and a half-sister, Mary Gerzalian.
Miller enjoyed gardening, canning and preparing meals for family and friends.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Rhinebeck United Methodist Church, 83 E. Market St.
